FHT CPD Seminar in Taunton
This lively, interactive seminar is an ideal introduction to the rewards, challenges and special considerations of working with people with life-limiting conditions. The day will offer useful insights and case studies and provide helpful resources for those wishing to pursue this valuable field of work.

Pre-requisites:
Level 3 Qualification in Reflexology, Massage or Aromatherapy.
Course outline:

During the morning session, we will consider the philosophy of palliative care and look at the variety of holistic therapies that are safe and appropriate for use in palliative care. The benefits and cautions/contra-indications will be discussed in general terms. There will be time for questions and sharing of relevant experiences.
During the afternoon session we will explore some case studies and use these as a learning tool. We will also share some simple touch techniques to demonstrate how holistic therapies are adapted for use in palliative care. As this is an introductory course, it is important that delegates have plenty of resources for further information and Mary will provide a suggested reading list.

About your tutor – Mary Atkinson
Holistic therapies have been Mary’s passion since she began working as health and fitness journalist on national magazines around twenty five years ago. In the mid ‘90s, Mary trained to be a holistic practitioner and has ITEC qualifications in Holistic Massage, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage. She is also trained in Hopi Ear Candling and Ayurvedic Massage. Mary is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) which plays a vital role in setting standards in our industry.
