On Wednesday evening (6th June 2012) The Chichester FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists) local support group enjoyed their fourth meeting in St Michael’s Hall, Summersdale, since they began in December 2011. The topic (Introduction to Chair Massage) and the speakers (Jing Institute for Advanced Massage Training) attracted 24 holistic therapists from Chichester and surrounding area. One therapist even travelled from Godalming for the evening!
Meghan Mari from Jing gave a highly informative and inspirational talk and demonstration of chair massage techniques and showed us a simple 10 minute routine that would be suitable for use in a office or at an event. We all had the opportunity to practice on each other using the chairs provided by the hall and the feedback was very positive. As well as learning some new and effective techniques we also had a refresher on using body weight to help protect hands and arms.
At every meeting we offer refreshments and also hold a complimentary raffle for everyone attending. Meghan kindly donated a DVD from Jing, some massage wax and a voucher towards one of their wonderful selection of advanced massage training courses. All in all, a very enjoyable and interesting evening with a chance to get to know other therapists in the area too.
Everyone is welcome at our friendly FHT local support group - you do not need to be a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Indeed, the group enjoys a very varied professional body membership and range of therapies.

Topic: An International Celebration for FHT’s 50th Anniversary
This evening we will be celebrating the international work of our members. We will share personal experiences, stories and advice from local complementary and beauty therapists who have volunteered their services abroad. Joint co-ordinator, Mary Atkinson, will host the session and begin by talking about her work with Cocoro Charity bringing positive touch to the children affected by the Tsunami in Japan. Joint co-ordinator, Toni McGloin, will end the session by leading us in some story massage on each other. We’ve chosen an Olympic theme for the story massage to celebrate the international vision of health and well-being for all. We hope you can join us for this informative, interactive and inspiring evening in honour of the FHT’s contribution to complementary and beauty therapy for the past 50 years.
