About Positive Touch for Children Day Course
The course is suitable for therapists to help support their clients (adults and children) by offering simple and appropriate suggestions for ways in introducing the benefits of positive touch into the family home. It is also suitable for parents who would like to know more about using basic touch techniques with their children.
Accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists for 5CPD points.
Course Content
Research has shown that children who enjoy regular positive touch are able to concentrate better, are calmer in stressful situations and gain self-confidence. This day course will cover the practical and theoretical knowledge necessary to introduce the benefits of positive touch to children in a safe, creative and caring way.
We will discuss and work with ‘tried and tested’ safe and appropriate techniques with an emphasis on story massage and creative use of massage for children. There will an opportunity to hear how story massage for children was used successfully with the Story Massage for Children of the Tsunami Project and Positive Touch with Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline as well as case studies of working with foster children and those with learning difficulties.

We will also spend some looking at simple massage, reflexology and acupressure techniques for common childhood situations including getting a child to sleep, easing headaches, and coping better with anxiety, stress and exam nerves. (These techniques which are featured in Healing Touch for Children are not a substitute for conventional medical advice and treatment).
There will be a balance of theory and practical hands-on work so come prepared to enjoy sharing and refreshing your skills. (The FHT accredits this course with 5 CPD points for therapists). You can read more about the background to this course on my blog post Positive Touch for Children.

Hi Mary
We met at the talk you gave at the FHT event at Gaydon last year. I have also recently been in touch with Anne Crease who has sent me the information for her Impact courses with a view to joining her Bristol class when it happens. I am still interested in MISP and would like to know if there are any courses planned in the Bristol or surrounding area.
I found your talk at the conference stimulating and inspiring and your simple methods obviously beneficial to the children and absolutely doable in an open supportive nurturing environment.
Many thanks
