I’m really looking forward to presenting my talk Positive Touch for Children at the FHT 50th Anniversary Training Congress on Sunday 8th July 2012. The whole weekend promises to be an excellent way of celebrating 50 years since the foundation of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. If you’re not already booked in then it’s being held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July at The Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire (home to the world’s greatest collection of British cars!)
Healing Touch for Children
My lecture will look at how research has shown that positive, nurturing touch can help boost self-esteem in young people and enable them to cope better with anxiety and stress. This lively, interactive session will share some simple touch techniques from my book Healing Touch for Children and look at suggestions that have been ‘tried and tested’ by therapists, parents and, of course, children.
Positive Touch Activities
If you’d like to know more about positive touch in action then you will find my report of work with Cocoro Charity in Japan interesting. We used story massage to help heal the emotional wounds of children who were victims of the recent tsunami on the north east coast. Creative positive touch and story massage was also beneficial for visiting children from the Ukraine who are suffering from the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.

Positive Touch for Children Day Course
If you can’t make the FHT training congress then I also run a Positive Touch for Children Day Course in Chichester, West Sussex – accredited for CPD by The Federation of Holistic Therapists.
