Find out how training in Indian Head Massage helped further Eleni's career as a beauty and holistic therapist.

One of the joys of our fund-raising efforts for Positive Touch for Tsunami Children has been meeting some really generous and supportive people like Eleni Thompson from Tangmere, near Chichester, who is our featured holistic therapist today.

When Eleni heard about our project she offered to hold a jewellery party selling her own beautifully hand crafted jewellery to help boost funds. Eleni’s calm and caring presence impressed me so much that I invited her to talk about her work as a beauty and complementary therapist. You can find out more about her from her website www.indulgentmoments.co.uk.

What prompted you to train in complementary therapy?

Whilst studying Beauty Therapy during 2006/2007 I was given the opportunity to add Indian Head Massage to my course. I had always wanted to be able to help others in some way and having seen for myself the many benefits of holistic therapies this seem to be an ideal starting point. Later I chose to continue my holistic training in order to provide others with the benefits I had experienced myself.

What therapies do you currently practice?

I have a room at home dedicated as a treatment room, it is a place where my clients can relax and unwind and enjoy doing something for themselves.

I offer a range of beauty and holistic treatments including: reflexology, body massage, Indian head massage, make up, eye lash tinting, eye lash perming, eye brow shaping, eye brow tinting, manicure, pedicure and waxing.

Describe one time when you felt that complementary therapy had really made a difference to someone.

Whilst working as head therapist in a spa in Crete I had a client who suffered from severe neck and upper back pain. Due to her height she found herself constantly stooping and bending. I recommended Indian Head Massage and after 7 treatments she called me one morning at work, proudly announcing that for the first time in over 20 years she had cancelled her cleaner. She had managed to clean her house herself something she had been unable to do for so long due to the pain she was in.

Can you share any holistic tips that have worked for you?

I love natural products; I try to use natural products as much as possible when treating others and for myself. I really believe that they can not be beaten! I particularly recommend aloe vera, it can be used on all skin types, it’s great as a night cream especially for spot prone skin. Aloe vera can take the sting out of bites and cool minor burns. I love the massage gel for a cooling, refreshing foot massage. I have an aloe vera plant at home and when I need it I just cut off a leaf and use some.

What path are you hoping to follow in the future?

In the future I look forward to expanding my treatment list to include more complementary therapies. I recently completed Reiki level 1 and would like to go on to level 2 in the future. I hope to be able to continue helping others to feel better in themselves and about themselves.

Wishing Eleni every good wish for her future in holistic therapies.
