I’m delighted to welcome our first therapist – Annie Aulds – who passed my Diploma in Indian Head Massage earlier this year. Annie is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

What prompted you to train in complementary therapy?

I kept seeing so many of my colleagues getting sick from stress, and I knew that there must be something I could do to help them.  I started looking at complementary therapies, and became fascinated by their effects and complexity. I trained in ITEC reflexology in 2010, and couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed it – I have since left my office job and set-up my own practice. I couldn’t be happier.

What therapies do you currently practice?

I currently practice Indian Head Massage, Reflexology and Reiki. I’m currently looking for a new therapy to learn, but it’s a big decision! I practice in Chichester and Wimbledon. When clients prefer me to visit their home – I am more than happy to oblige.

Describe one time when you felt that complementary therapy had really made a difference to someone.

A 45-year-old female client had been suffering with a headache for at least 5 weeks; she’d sought medical advice and found her blood pressure to be high. The physician prescribed medication to reduce her blood pressure, however it had not helped with her constant headache. After 1 hour of reflexology, her headache had subsided. We were both very pleased with the result!

Can you share any holistic tips that have worked for you?

I enjoy combining treatments, as I feel my clients really benefit. By starting off a treatment session with Reiki gives a totally relaxing experience. And if they are still talking, I guide them through a meditation to ensure they are receiving maximum benefit!

What path are you hoping to follow in the future?

I started a local therapy group early this year, which is aimed to help support local complementary therapists and educate my neighbourhood on the benefits of holistic therapies. We have lots of up and coming events to raise its profile. So, at the moment these projects are going well and keeping me busy. However, in the future, I’d love to set-up a retreat in paradise!
