Mary Atkinson is a Holistic Practitioner Experienced in Massage Therapy Courses

Since writing my first book on massage, The Art of Indian Head Massage was published in 2000, I have developed a number of holistic therapy courses and talks to share the benefits of massage with others. These holistic talks and courses are ideal for those new to complementary therapy and also established holistic practitioners. Numbers are limited to ensure maximum learning in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

My holistic therapy courses can be individually tailored to suit the needs of small groups of beginners or qualified complementary health practitioners.

My courses include:

  • Diploma in Indian Head Massage, a three day FHT accredited diploma for qualified therapists in another bodywork. (20 CPD points)
  • Hand and Foot Massage, an FHT accredited CPD day course open to everyone. Ideal for beginners interested in learning a few basic techniques or therapists wishing to enhance their massage routines.
  • Refresher and Update Indian Head Massage an FHT approved CPD course for qualified Indian Head Massage therapists to further refresh, update and further their skills.
  • The Story Massage Programme, an FHT day course open to everyone. Learn how to introduce the Story Massage Programme into your home and work.

  • It’s always good to hear from other people before you decide to take a new course. So here are some of the comments from students who have attended a variety of different holistic therapy courses for beginners and trained therapists.

“Mary Atkinson has a great knowledge of Indian Head Massage and provides 1st rate Indian Head Massage training courses. Mary imparts all her knowledge in the courses she runs and adds enthusiasm to the subject. Mary gave us extra supporting material and puts a great deal of thought in preparation. ” William Andrews

“Mary Atkinson is a supportive, approachable, professional and enthusiastic tutor. I found her energy to be totally inspiring, on both a business and personal level. Her study days are always very well organised with lots of information, put together so you can take it away with you.” Jo Jowett

"I am pleased that I chose Mary’s Diploma in Indian Head Massage Course. Although the diploma is intense and you learn a lot, Mary has a way of making it easy and effortless to remember and understand. Doing the case studies was an enlightening process and wonderful learning for me.” Wendy Turner

“I cannot thank Mary enough for all her encouragement, support and help in getting me started. Each time I attend one of Mary’s courses or seminars I come away feeling that I had learnt some new skills that I can build on and enjoy using.” Lesley Brown

“I had a very interesting and fun day with Mary Atkinson looking at Adapting Indian Head Massage for the Elderly and Frail. It was a good revision day, and also gave us useful tips when working with very frail people. There was a good discussion about contra-indications, what was safe and not, and what we all felt comfortable with. We had some practice sessions too, and shared tips and techniques.” Sally Reynolds

Mary’s relaxed but professional approach is a great environment to learn in. She makes you realise that massage is as pleasant to give as it is to receive!” Jo Colby-Relf

“Mary’s Indian Head Massage courses are excellent, and her expertise, enthusiasm and passion for Indian Head Massage is infectious. I passed the Diploma in Indian Head Massage earlier this year and have since attended Adapting Indian Head Massage for the Elderly and Frail. I hope she will continue to run more advanced Indian Head Massage training courses.” Annie Aulds

First rate teacher and therapist. Genuinely lovely, warm person who radiates positivity. I would recommend her highly and frequently do! Glad I travelled to Chichester and spent three wonderful days training to do her FHT approved Indian Head Massage course - when clients tell me that I do an amazing IHM, I tell them I had a good teacher! I now want to do Story Massage! Sue Adlam
