Are you looking for a reminder of some Indian Head Massage techniques? Or would you like to learn some new moves? Here are a few video clips to inspire you. Â
Here we go – some techniques being demonstrated in my kitchen! You can also see some Indian Head Massage techniques for back, neck and shoulders on a previous blog post: Techniques for Head, Neck and Shoulders
1. Ruffling
This move gives a lovely tingly feel as it helps to boost circulation and stimulate the nerve endings – don’t forget to include the occipital ridge.
2. Shampooing
This is always a firm favourite with clients. On my courses, we will spend time ensuring that you get this move correct so you will always have happy clients!
“First rate teacher and therapist. Genuinely lovely, warm person who radiates positivity. I would recommend her highly and frequently do! Glad I travelled to Chichester and spent three wonderful days training to do her FHT approved Indian Head Massage course – when clients tell me that I do an amazing IHM, I tell them I had a good teacher!” Sue Adlam, Holistic Therapist
3. Hair Pulling
Absolutely bliss! And a wonderful self-help technique to share with clients who suffer from headaches. It might look pretty firm, but this is a favourite with one of my 92 year old clients.
4. Hairline Massage
We often forget to massage the hairline but gentle stroking on this sensitive area feels amazing.
5. Temple Circles
Another excellent move teach as a self-help technique for headaches. When working on the face, always remember to keep your client’s neck well supported.
6. Facial Stroking
What a wonderfully relaxing finish to your session. Keep your hands soft and give long, flowing strokes for maximum relaxation.

“Mary is a truly inspirational teacher. She has a fun and warm approach to teaching, I really love her style and how she made it so easy to digest lots of information. From the practical side to the course notes to her ongoing support she is just wonderful. I have been able to use all my skills gained from her in so many areas of my work from home life with my children to my music groups, one to one with people with multiple and profound disabilities to nurturing women through labour.”  Shirley Stump, Holistic Therapist and Doula
